Il movimento nell’ambiente acqua dalla terapia per il well-being e alla locomozione efficiente

Descrizione dell'attività di ricerca:

L’attività del gruppo afferisce a due ambiti principali:

1) lo studio dei numerosi cambiamenti fisiologici e biomeccanici che si verificano durante l'immersione in acqua, applicati ai problemi riabilitativi comuni. L'ambiente acquatico ha un ampio potenziale riabilitativo, che si estende dal trattamento delle lesioni acute attraverso il mantenimento della salute a fronte di malattie croniche. Le terapie acquatiche sono utili nella gestione di pazienti con problemi muscoloscheletrici, problemi neurologici, patologia cardiopolmonare e altre condizioni. Inoltre, il margine di sicurezza terapeutica è più ampio di quello dei tradizionali ambienti di trattamento. Le ricerche sono orientate alla conoscenza di questi effetti al fine di supportare il riabilitatore esperto nella creazione di un piano di trattamento ottimale, attraverso un'adeguata modifica delle attività acquatiche, delle temperature di immersione e della durata del trattamento.

2) lo studio delle metodologie scientifiche e delle soluzioni tecnologiche più idonee per studiare le resistenze idrodinamiche che si oppongono all’atleta in ambiente acquatico e i modelli di propulsione propri delle locomozioni in acqua, allo scopo di determinare l’impatto delle resistenze idrodinamiche e della propulsione sull’efficienza e sull’economia della prestazione dell’atleta in acqua. Le ricerche sono orientate allo sviluppo di metodi sperimentali basati su sensori inerziali e sistemi elettromeccanici per il calcolo o la stima dei parametri sopra definiti. Le conoscenze sulle forze che condizionano lo spostamento e la propulsione in acqua è indagato attraverso l’ottimizzazione dei sistemi di video-analisi del movimento. Temi di ricerca riguardano inoltre la misurazione di forza e potenza dell’atleta in acqua, l'influenza di questi fattori sull'efficienza propulsiva, nonché gli effetti della specializzazione atletica sul gesto e lo studio dei materiali indossati.
